9 March 2026
From March 6th to 8th, 2026, Politecnico di Torino brought PERSIMMON to the public at Just the Woman I Am (JTWIA), one of Italy’s most beloved events combining sport, health awareness, and solidarity.
Now in its eleventh year, Just the Woman I Am is a collective movement that each March unites thousands of people in Turin, and simultaneously in other cities across Italy, for a 5-kilometre run or walk in support of university research on health and cancer. Beyond sport, the event promotes prevention, healthy lifestyles, inclusion, and gender equality.
At the heart of the initiative lies the Villaggio della Prevenzione e della Salute (Prevention and Health Village), where citizens can access free screening visits, specialist consultations, informational sessions, and public seminars over the three days of the event.
PERSIMMON at the Health Village
Within the Health Village, Politecnico di Torino set up a dedicated stand showcasing several of its ongoing research projects, including PERSIMMON. Over the three days, researchers engaged directly with members of the public through videos and presentations, and offered live demonstrations of how data is acquired and visualised using the PERSIMMON system.
This kind of direct, accessible engagement with citizens is a core part of PERSIMMON’s dissemination strategy. By bringing the technology out of the laboratory and into a public setting, the consortium can gather real-world impressions, raise awareness of sustainable wearable health monitoring, and contribute to a broader culture of health prevention and scientific literacy.
