On November 23rd, 2025, research connected to the PERSIMMON project was presented at the 78th Annual Meeting of the APS Division of Fluid Dynamics by Jonathan Karlsson from Mycronic.
The presentation, titled “The Effect of Substrate Characteristics on Droplet Spreading of Liquid Metal Alloys”, explored how substrate properties influence the non-contact dispensing of room temperature liquid metals, a process directly relevant to the fabrication of the liquid metal wires that form a core component of PERSIMMON’s biodegradable smart patches.
The research investigates how to optimise dispensing performance and improve the reliability of liquid metal wire production, contributing to the broader goal of developing flexible, high-performance, and environmentally sustainable wearable electronics within the project.
